Raining Reeds
Completion: 2018
Location: Medical Facility, Jacksonville, FL
Description: Raining Reeds is inspired by the meandering, reed-filled wetlands along Florida’s east coast as well as the afternoon rainstorms common in the area. Seen from below, the randomly spaced flamed-copper sleeves appear as drops of life-giving rain, while viewers from the second level peer through the array of sculptural “reeds,” as if standing in the midst of a verdant wetland. As visitors move around the work, the undulating curvatures of the sculpture unfold and flicker with life.
